The days are getting shorter, the leaves are falling from the trees, and there's a chill in the air that can only mean one thing: spooky season is upon us. Halloween has arrived across Hastings County, and to help you make the most of this frightfully fun season, we've put together a handy list of spooky events to check out this month, along with a few tips on how to stay safe while enjoying the festivities. What better time to take a walk down a haunted trail? But be warned: this annual experience isn’t for the faint of heart,  As you make your way through the wooded trail, you’ll come across horrifying props, costumed scarers, and creepy animatronics. At the end, take a breath and watch a horror movie from a hay bale. But fear not if you are looking for a more family themed fright they do offer special times for walk throughs, to help reduce the scaryness, check their Facebook Page to find out more.

Burke’s Barnyard’s 6th Annual Trick or Treat & Halloween Market

Saturday, October 17th from 12:00pm to 6:00pm

4169 Boulter Rd., Carlow Mayo

 

Join Burke's Barnyard for their 6th Annual Trick-or-Treat & Halloween Market in the beautiful Boulter Hills!  Admission is free with a non-perishable food item for the North Hastings Community Cupboard. Bring your costumes, your family, and your Halloween spirit—it’s going to be spooktacular!

Halloween fun for the whole family!  

 

Take a walk along a winding trail through a haunted wood that's guaranteed to spook you! Treats and hot chocolate at the end for those brave enough to finish.  

 

Tickets $5 each. Cash only please

 

A less-scary version for the younger kids runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m., then from 7 to 9 p.m., the really scary surprises come out!

 

There'll also be pumpkin carving and decorating at the Queensborough Pumpkin Patch ($5 per pumpkin - all materials provided).

Join for a fun-filled Halloween celebration at the Tyendinaga Recreation Hall. This year's event combines the annual Trunk or Treat with a Halloween Family Bike Ride, offering an afternoon of family-friendly activities, costumes, candy, prizes, and community fun. This is a free family event, costumes are encouraged! There will be a free bike decorating station, candy & treats, door prizes, and a best decorated trunk competition. Registration is required for the Family Bike Ride

 

Think you have the best trunk in town? Decorate your vehicle and compete for the Best Decorated Trunk Award. Attendees can cast their vote at the Township Booth, and the winner will be announced during the event.

Halloween Safety Tips

A light up sign that says Stay Safe and has little pumpkins, ghost stickers on it.

Trick-or-treaters:
- Bring a flashlight
- Wear reflective clothing, lights or glow sticks
- Stay in a group and don’t go alone
- Only go to well-lit homes
- Have all candy inspected by an adult before consuming
- Use crosswalks when crossing the street
- Use face paint instead of masks for better visibility

 

Homeowners:
- Keep outside lights on
- Remove any potential tripping hazards
- Don’t use candles in pumpkins
