Delio Delgado's "In Linear Terms" Art Exhibition at The Art Gallery of Bancroft
Opening reception: Friday, August 7th at 7:30pm
Delio Delgado is an established Canadian artist based in Hamilton whose multidisciplinary practice engages painting, embodiment, and spatial inquiry. Born in the Dominican Republic, Delgado’s artistic formation is rooted in a transnational education that bridges Caribbean, North American, and European contexts. He completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in multidisciplinary studies in 1998 at the National School of Visual Arts in Santo Domingo. He later continued his studies at Altos de Chavón School of Design, an institution affiliated with Parsons School of Design in New York City, graduating in 2001.
In 2011, Delgado expanded his practice into digital processes by earning a degree in Digital Media Production from Mohawk College in Canada.
Over a career spanning three decades (1996–2026), Delgado has developed a sustained and evolving body of work that reflects his commitment to material exploration, cultural memory, and the relationship between the body and constructed space. His practice is informed by his lived experience within the Caribbean diaspora and his perspective as an artist navigating disability, which contributes to a nuanced engagement with form, rhythm, and physicality in his work.
Through his ongoing studio work and exhibition history, Delgado continues to contribute to contemporary painting by integrating geometry, movement, and embodied knowledge. His work reflects a persistent inquiry into how form can hold memory, presence, and transformation across cultural and physical boundaries.
Delgado's exhibition will be available for viewing from August 4th to August 29th.
