Before & After School Program

Thank you for your interest in Hastings County’s directly operated before and after school programs. Our partnerships with the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board and the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board allows us to provide high quality Before & After school programs to children who attend the noted schools.

 

Our programs are licensed by the Ministry of Education and staffed by Registered Early Childhood Educators/ Child and Youth workers.  Programming is based on the Ministries, “How Does Learning Happen” and the four learning foundations, Belonging, Wellbeing, Engagement and Expression.
The County of Hastings directly operates Before and After School Programs, at the following locations:


Before and After School:

  • Sir John A MacDonald Public School
  • Trent River Public School
  • Frankford Public School

After School Only:

  • St. Michael’s Catholic School

Hastings County requires full-time registration Monday through Friday. It could be a combination of before and/or after school care. 

No. Hastings County programs are closed on all PA Days and school holidays. 

No. Re-registration opens on the first of March for all existing families. You are provided two to three weeks to return the required documents to hold your space for the following year. 

Around the third week of March, after existing families have had a chance to enroll. 

Hastings County programs follow How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years. Our programs use a play-based curriculum. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided, and children enjoy outdoor time every day. 

Yes. Families will receive the deduction for children that are 0-6 years of age, attending Hastings County’s directly operated before and after school program as per the CWELCC guidelines.
